OUR WORK: School voor Vrije Haptonomie
ABOUT OUR WORK
Previously the SvVH’s (‘The School for Free Haptonomy’) online presence was limited to a blog. Because of its growth, and increasing popularity, it was decided a complete website was necessary to give the school a more substantial web presence and emanate a feeling of professional trust.
We set off by defining the house style. An artwork that was used on the blog served as the basis of the logo shown below. Haptonomy has a lot to do with the patient and professional being on the same ‘wavelength’. A visualisation of this wavelength serves as a perfect illustration for what the School of Free Haptonomy is about.
Extensive research was done on websites dealing with haptonomy and massage in general. In our opinion the thing most of these websites had in common was a clutteredness, often overflowing with unnecessary information, too much text, and unreferenced and unrelated imagery. We realised the website could distinguish itself by focussing on simplicity, groundedness and professionalism.
The related website Praktijk Leander Tijdhof was also designed and built by Doets Design.

Besides the city of Utrecht activities also take place in Jorwert, Friesland.
Although inextricably linked, the philosophy of the SvVH can be divided into haptonomy on the one hand and consciousness development on the other.
Haptonomy works on the balance between feeling, thinking and doing. Moving exercises, conversations and touch stimulate the development of sentient ability. Through all of our childhood this ability is the basis for learning.
Consciousness Development is about our sense of reality in relation to movement. Our sense of reality is determined by our experiences, the meanings we give them and how we organise these meanings. Because this notion of reality is uncertain and experiences may differ, there is a possibility of flux.
